| The
Master's Program was inaugurated in the fall of 1999. It is designed
for ETSC graduates or those with a comparable theological education
who desire to sharpen the tools and skills acquired during previous
theological studies. |

Currently ETSC offers only a part-time program, but in two years it
is possible to complete
the required 35 credits:
| |
|
Course work totaling 25 credits |
|
|
A thesis of 15,000-17,000 words and oral examination
based on it. Successful completion of the thesis project will earn
the student ten credits. |
Courses and thesis topic are determined in consultation
with a student's faculty advisor and the coordinator of graduate studies.

Men and women from Egypt, Sudan, Palestine, Syria, Germany, and the
United States have registered full-time or audited courses. Credits
earned in the ETSC graduate program may be transferable to other theological
schools.
Faculty teaching in the Masters program, all PhDs, have come from Egypt,
America, Canada, Lebanon, and the Netherlands.
ETSC offers two areas of specialization depending on faculty resources
from our own and visiting scholars:
| |
|
Biblical Studies |
|
|
Middle Eastern Christianity |

Resources available to Master's students:
| |
|
PhD faculty |
|
|
the ETSC library
and others in Cairo |
| |
|
graduate computer resources (separate from undergraduates)
with access to the internet, journals via ATLAS, and other research
tools |

Instruction in the Master's program is in English to utilize visiting
professors, prepare students for further study abroad, and expose students
to a wider range of theological literature than that which is currently
available in Arabic.
Applicants whose first language is not English must take
the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Minimum scores are
173 on the International (computer-based) TOEFL or 500 on the National
(paper-based) TOEFL.
For the concentration in Biblical Studies, the student
is expected to demonstrate an adequate level of proficiency in Biblical
Hebrew and Greek before admission.
A Bachelor of Theology degree or equivalent is a prerequisite. Supporting
documents, such as transcripts, letters of reference, and TOEFL scores,
will be required and an interview or examination may be necessary. Propective
candidates should contact the coordinator of graduate studies, Rev.
Dr. David Grafton for an application and other information.
